Pisa's famous piazza — Cathedral, Baptistery, and the Leaning Tower — is one of the most concentrated collections of Romanesque architecture in the world. Genuinely impressive even when crowded. Spend a morning, then head east into the hills. The Tower leans 3.97° — visible from 200m away.

Practical Tips

Campsite: Centro Turistico Madonna dell'Acqua, Via Pietrasantina 10, 56122 Pisa (GPS [2])43.741110.3800. ~€20–25/night. Bus to piazza (20min).
Leaning Tower reservation: mandatory online at opapisa.it. No walk-up tickets. Book at least 2 weeks ahead in spring/autumn.
Piazza dei Miracoli is outside the ZTL — you can drive past but not park nearby. Use the campsite and take the bus.
Lucca (30km north): walled city with cycle path on 16th-century walls. Day trip, GPS 43.8429, 10.5027. Bike rental at gates €3/hour.
Leaning Tower ticket: €18–28.
