Strasbourg — cathedral, Petite France, and Christmas markets
Gratis previewThe Alsatian capital is half German, half French, wholly its own. The cathedral's astronomical clock performs at 12:30 daily. Petite France quarter is half-timbered houses over canals — basically a prettier Venice. If you're here in December, this is where the Christmas market tradition was invented in 1570.
Praktische tips
• Aire de camping-cars Montagne Verte: €12/night, tram line E into centre in 15 min.
• Cathedral: free. Astronomical clock show 12:30, €4, separate ticket.
• Eat tarte flambée (flammekueche) at Chez Yvonne, rue du Sanglier — skip Insta-famous places.
• Christmas market: last weekend Nov to Dec 24. Arrive by tram, centre is pedestrian-only.

Obernai — first wine village on the route

Château du Haut-Kœnigsbourg — restored medieval castle

Riquewihr — the most famous Alsace village
